    HFESS Symposium: Charting the Future of Human Factors & Ergonomics


    To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFESS) of Singapore, the society and SUSS jointly organised the Human Factors 30 th Anniversary Symposium at SUSS. As a Federated Society of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), HFESS took the opportunity to invite 14 renowned international speakers from IEA to deliver presentations on a wide range of HFE topics that current, relevant, wide-ranging and extremely interesting such as the ever growing popular sit-stand workstations to patient safety, to artificial intelligence and space operations.

    The goal of this symposium was to provide a platform for local, regional and international HFE practitioners to discuss HFE challenges in technological landscape and the potential research directions to focus on.

    An invitation to COSH 2017 and NIOSH


    Associate Professor Chui Yoon Ping was invited, to speak at the 20th Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Safety and Health held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Malaysia, on the 18th and 19th of October. Together with other invited oversea speakers, AP Chui was also invited to visit the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health HQ at Bangi and to meet with key management to discuss possible collaboration.

    SPM - SUSS Professional Talk Series :
    An Overview of the new SIA Building Contracts.


    SST hosted another SPM-SUSS Professional Talk Series on Thursday, 17th August 2017 in seminar rooms C.4.15/C.4.16. This talk was about the major revamp of the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA)‘s Conditions of Contracts latest in its 9th edition, a common and frequently used form of contracts in the Singapore building and construction industry.

    BSBEP Students participate in Mass Casulaty Incident Simulations @ JIBC



    On 7 August, uniformed BSBEP students sponsored by Singapore Armed Forces and Singapore Civil Defence Force began their 6 weeks course in Operational Leadership in Paramedicine at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC).  Students attended classes on JIBC campus along with field visit to BC Emergency Health Services and the Mobile Medical Unit.

    On Aug 19, Singapore film-maker Mr Chai Yee Wei and award-winning sound designer Ms Lim Ting Li spoke at a talk jointly organised by our colleagues from the Multimedia Technology and Design programme and the Film Studies Minor – providing insights into the passion that drives them.

    Be A Part Of The Future Of Aviation

    The biennial Aviation Open House, held from Aug 24 to 26 at the Suntec City Convention and Exhibition Centre, saw our senior lecturers for the Aerospace Systems programme, Dr He Yi Hong and Mr Stephen Low, conduct two educational talks for potential students and answer queries on this and other SST degree programmes.
